My Cancer Friends Welcome!

Hello everyone! I made the My Cancer Friends website to help people with cancer, and people that know people with cancer, get together and support each other. Cancer is a hard disease to deal with mentally as well as physically.

Having cancer victims, survivors, and supporters come together to talk about how they feel is a huge part of the healing process, not only physically, but mentally as well.

Often times when a family member gets cancer it can be hard a rough job to take on the burden of acting cheerful to lift spirits knowing your loved one is hurting. If a family member gets cancer I refer to it as a family with cancer because everyone in the family is dealing with the intense emotions that cancer brings with it.

I myself have never had cancer, but nearly everyone in my family has contracted the disease by their 50's-60's. I know what it's like to see family members with cancer, and I've dealt with many of my own emotions with this disease as well.

My Cancer Friends is a place to heal inside and out. Let's lift our spirits and heal together!

Note: We will never give out or sell any information you enter into our website. This includes your name, address, personal information, photos, phone number, or anything else you share with us here on this website. Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us.

Mission - Donations - Sponsorship

The primary mission in making this website is to get people touched by cancer together as you know. There are few more goals that I want to accomplish by raising funds from donations and sponsors:

1. Give to cancer research monthly. We need to find cures that don't harm the patient while ridding the body of cancer.

2. Advertise this website to get as many people I can that have been touched by cancer together.

3. Maintain and upgrade this Website. Believe it or not there are even more features that can be added to enhance member experience!

I have not formed a non-profit for this venture because of the complexity involved and the fact that I am by myself. I do not have a board of directors or anyone helping me except for all of you that are members here.

I formed an LLC so that businesses can still write off the cost of sponsorship as a business expense.

If you know a business or organization that wants to support this website and put a banner up please send them to our sponsorship page HERE.

If you wish to donate please visit our donate page HERE.

These are the goals I have set out to accomplish with the help of all my new friends. I want everyone to understand how important this mission is to me.

    My Cancer Experience

Posted by Frances G Joyce on April 20, 2012 at 5:10pm 2 Comments

I was diagnosed with Her2+ Invasive Breast Cancer in October 2008. After 6 rounds of neoadjuvant chemotherapy, a bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction, 28 radiation treatments, And 53 weekly doses of the monoclonal antibody Herceptin I am cancer free!

I never got sick during chemo. The only problem I had was my tiny veins forced me to get a port. I exercised every day during treatment, ate a well balanced diet, and kept a positive attitude. I think those are all key to…

Soothe Your Skin from Radiation Treatments

Posted by James Monteith on March 1, 2012 at 4:00pm 0 Comments

There is a product that I recently read about that does a good job to soothe your skin from radiation treatments. If you’ve had radiation therapy before then you know that after a radiation therapy session you may often experience a burning skin sensation.

The product I’m going to tell you about is readily available at Wal-Mart and will help soothe that burning sensation for several hours. The product is called Glycerin Skin…

    What Foods Cause Cancer?

Posted by James Monteith on February 27, 2012 at 4:39pm 4 Comments

First of all, “what foods cause cancer?” is a not a question that can be answered easily because one person may eat daily the foods that we are told to avoid and never get cancer, but another individual may never eat any of the foods we are told to avoid and get cancer…

    Lindsay's Smile...

Posted by Karen Wenzel on February 20, 2012 at 11:40am 2 Comments

The first thing people always remember about Lindsay is her smile. A smile that lit up the room and an

attitude that being kind and helping others was most important. It is that smile and attitude that

motivates us to push forward each day.

Lindsay, Jason and Olivia Lopez were the typical young family. Working hard, having fun and just

enjoying life. On Sept 21, 2009 everything changed. That day…

A Journey of Misdiagnosis and Discovery by Jean

I was advised that when you have a tale to tell, you should attempt to write a blog. Well, I do have a journey and it is longer than just a quick e-mail note, so...here I am. I hope that someone else will realize they are not Alone and will know I'm there for them.

    1994...

I went to work, voted in the famous 11/8/94 election, came home and cooked dinner, sat down with my daughter (16) to watch a sitcom and 'died.'  Yes, if you are going to do something like that, be sure to be…
